# Database review: SharePoint (Service Principal)

## Decide on what you want to synchronize into Lexis® Create DMS

### Sync only subset of sites

You can assign fine grained permissions to the application by using the **Sites.Selected **permissions instead of **Sites.Read.All**. More info on [this (external) link](https://devblogs.microsoft.com/microsoft365dev/controlling-app-access-on-specific-sharepoint-site-collections/ ).

If you want to use this approach, please reach out to your Solution Engineer and provide her with a list of **URL**, **site ID’s and web ID's** to which the service principal has access.

For example:

**How to find Site ID's and Web ID's?**

There are two ways to retrieve these:

- Option 1: Using Browser URLs  
  You can get the IDs directly from your browser: 
    - Site ID:  
      https://<tenant>.[sharepoint.com/sites](http://sharepoint.com/sites)/<site-url>/\_api/site/id
    - Web ID (or Subsite ID):  
      https://<tenant>.[sharepoint.com](http://sharepoint.com/)/<site-url>/\_api/web/id

- Option 2: Using Microsoft Graph Explorer  
  If the above pages aren’t accessible, you can run the API call to list sites described here through your admin account on [Microsoft Graph Explorer.](https://developer.microsoft.com/en-us/graph/graph-explorer) This will give you the list of sites along with their corresponding IDs.
